Why have you received a Michelin award?
In the 2019 Michelin Guide, we received 5 Red Pavilions (highest rating) and one star for cuisine. In 2025, we also received a Michelin 1 Key rating for accommodations. We are recognized for our seasonal kaiseki cuisine and luxurious setting.

Do you have rooms with open-air baths?
Some rooms such as Marika and Riyui have open-air baths fed by our own hot spring. We also offer special rooms including Higashi no Ma, a VIP suite showcasing the finest of Japanese architecture.
What is the layout of the all-detached rooms?
All 14 rooms are independent detached cottages in sukiya-zukuri style. Each cottage offers a luxurious space of approximately 80 tsubo with a private garden. The two-story detached buildings overlooking the Japanese garden create the atmosphere of a relaxing residential mansion.

What is the hot spring quality and what facilities are available?
Unzen hot spring with sulfur water (flowing directly from the source). A separate building features a spacious bathhouse with an outdoor bath made from stacked stone, and guest rooms with private outdoor baths fed from our own source are also available. The water has strong antibacterial properties and is said to leave skin smooth.

Are there nearby tourist attractions?
Unzen Jigoku (within walking distance), Nita Pass, Unzen Ropeway and other natural sightseeing spots in Unzen are available. You can also explore the historic hot spring town that flourished as a foreign visitor resort from the Meiji through Showa periods.

What type of cuisine is served?
We serve seasonal kaiseki cuisine made with fresh local ingredients. Dishes feature seasonal produce from Ariake Sea and Shimabara Peninsula, presented on specially commissioned Arita ware. Meals are served in your room.
