How do I get there from Morioka Station?
A paid shuttle bus runs from bay 28 on the second floor of the west exit of JR Morioka Station (about 25 minutes, booking essential with the Aishinkan reservation centre by 17:00 three days before). The fare is 500 yen for junior high school age and above, 250 yen for elementary school children and free for pre-school children. By car it is about 15 minutes from Morioka IC on the Tohoku Expressway, taking National Route 46 towards Akita.

There are 17 baths, including the Jomon garden open-air baths (Shidanai-no-Yu and Nurisawa-no-Yu), a 120 cm deep standing bath themed on a Jomon pit dwelling, and an open-air bath modelled on a stone circle. There is also a private bath with a sauna. The baths alternate between men and women.

What is the theme of the Jomon garden baths?
