Is this a convenient base for enjoying the Kurobe Gorge Trolley Train?
From our facility to Unazuki Onsen Station and the Kurobe Gorge Railway Trolley Train "Unazuki Station" is within walking distance (about 4–5 minutes). It is also conveniently located as a sightseeing base for the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.

What types of guest rooms do you have?
We have 82 rooms total, including Japanese-style rooms, Japanese-Western hybrid rooms, and rooms with private outdoor baths. The rooms on the top floor with private outdoor baths are particularly popular. All rooms offer views of Kurobe Gorge.

What is the history of this ryokan?
Originally established as a kaiseki ryokan "Entaiji Ryokan" in Takaoka in 1900 (Meiji 33), it opened as an annex at Unazuki Onsen in 1925 (Taisho 14). It has been beloved by many literary figures including poets Yoshano Akiko and Tekkan, and novelist Kawabata Yasunari, and has hosted imperial visits. It is the only facility in Toyama Prefecture to have been selected consecutively for 18 years for the "100 Best Japanese Hotels and Ryokans - Cuisine Category" chosen by professionals.

Can you tell me about the hot spring quality and characteristics?
Unazuki Onsen is a weakly alkaline simple spring (known as a beauty-enhancing spring). We provide 100% pure natural hot spring water with no added water or heating from the source. The water is famous for leaving skin smooth and silky. You can enjoy outdoor baths, a large communal bath, a private bath, and an outdoor bath with pure hot spring water directly from the source.

What kind of food is served?
We serve kaiseki (multi-course Japanese dinner) using fresh seafood from Toyama Bay and mountain produce from Kurobe. We are committed to local sourcing, using dishes, glassware, and sake vessels made in Toyama, as well as washi paper and wood from the region. The menu changes with the seasons.
