How do I get there from central Kochi?
About 30 minutes by car from central Kochi. By public transport, take the Kochiken Kotsu bus for Hiraishi or Shobu from the Sakaimachi stop and alight at Auberge Tosayama-mae.

The guest rooms have no television or clock, in keeping with the idea of doing nothing. The design puts private time in nature first.

Day bathing is possible, 10:30-20:30 (last entry 20:00), and 15:00-20:30 every Tuesday. The charge is 800 yen for adults and 400 yen for children aged 3 to 12.
What are the qualities and benefits of the hot spring?
Tosayama Onsen is alkaline and is expected to help with chronic skin conditions and neuralgia, as well as the complexion, stiff shoulders and fatigue. There is an open-air bath and a large bathing hall glazed from floor to ceiling, from which you can see a sky full of stars on a clear night.
