Can you walk to Yubatake?
Yubatake is directly in front of the ryokan (0 minutes on foot). It is also very conveniently located, just a 5-minute walk from Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal.

What are the check-in and checkout times?
Check-in is 15:00 and checkout is 10:00. We can store your luggage and car before check-in. Please ask at the front desk.

Do you have an elevator?
We do not have an elevator as we are a wooden building. If you are elderly or have mobility concerns, please consult with us at the time of booking. The bath is on the basement level and the dining area is on the first floor.

How many rooms do you have and what types?
We are a small ryokan with 11 rooms total. We offer rooms with different characteristics, including special rooms renovated in 2023 with views of Yubatake, Japanese-Western style rooms, and corner rooms overlooking Nishi no Kawarahara Street.

You mention being a registered tangible cultural property—what kind of building is it?
The ryokan was founded in the late Edo period, and the current building was rebuilt from the late Taisho to Showa periods. It was designated as a registered tangible cultural property in 2012. It is a three-story wooden ryokan built using traditional architectural techniques and materials, retaining its historical character and atmosphere.

What is the bathhouse like?
The bathhouse on the basement level is made entirely of cypress wood and is open 24 hours. It has high ceilings and a spacious feel, with a glass partition between the changing area and bathing area. Hot spring minerals float in the water, creating an atmospheric space.
What is the hot spring source? What temperature is the water?
We use 100% pure spring water drawn from the Shirajirushi hot spring source in front of Yubatake. Only about 10 ryokans in Kusatsu use Shirajirushi source. We maintain the water temperature at around 43°C, characteristically warm for Kusatsu (the temperature varies daily as it is a natural source).

Where is dinner and breakfast served, and what kind of cuisine?
Both dinner and breakfast are served in the dining area on the first floor (private rooms available upon request). The focus is on seasonal home-style cooking. Dinner is available at 18:00 or 18:30, and breakfast at 8:00 or 8:30.

We do not have parking on the premises, but you can use Nishi-no-Kawara Park paid parking lot (available until around 12:00 on checkout day). We will provide you with a complimentary service ticket. Please call the ryokan at 0279-88-3244 after arrival and we will arrange a pickup.
