What kind of garden is Gunhoen?
It is a garden associated with Toyotomi Hideyoshi and is said to have been designed by Sen no Rikyū. It is one of the three famous gardens of Yamato. Spanning 10,000 tsubo, this celebrated garden offers changing scenery with each season.

What is the history of this facility?
The facility traces its origins to Chikurin-in temple, said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku, and has a 1,300-year history as a temple lodging. It has been favored by many literary figures including the poet Saigyō, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Akiko Yosano, and in 1981, the Emperor and Empress Showa stayed here.
