Is there anything to watch out for in winter?
The Nishi-Azuma Sky Valley road from Urabandai is closed in winter. Snow tyres or chains are essential in winter, so please come prepared.

How do I get there from Yonezawa Station, and is there a pick-up?
There is a free shuttle bus from JR Yonezawa Station (advance booking required), which also serves Tengendai. By car it is about 30 minutes from Yonezawa-Hachimanpara IC on the Tohoku-Chuo Expressway.

What is the famous waterfall bath?
Our speciality is a bath where hot water falls dramatically from about 3 m, said to have a therapeutic effect. The tub itself has been in use for more than 400 years and is said to have been enjoyed by Uesugi Kagekatsu, the first lord of the Yonezawa domain, and by Lord Yozan.
What kind of hot spring water is it?
It is a calcium sulphate spring used straight from the source, held to promote health and ease fatigue. The spring has more than 700 years of history, and there is also a stone bath hollowed out of a great rock and open-air baths for men and women.

Can I use the inn as a base for the Tengendai Kogen ski area?
From Shirabu Onsen you can reach the Tengendai highlands at 1,820 m by ropeway and lift. In summer it is used for climbing and trekking and in winter as a ski area with fine powder snow, making the inn an ideal base all year.

Our kaiseki courses using genuine Yonezawa beef are well received (some plans let you choose between sukiyaki and shabu-shabu). The dishes make the most of seasonal local ingredients.
