親子同行 (1)

Is it enjoyable with children?

As well as the historic Western-style buildings and seasonal flowers, there are things children enjoy such as hunting for the heart stones. The garden has many slopes and steps, though, so watch your footing. Some areas are difficult with a pushchair.

所需時間 (1)

How long should I allow?

Nine Western-style buildings are spread over the extensive grounds, so allow about 1-2 hours to look round at leisure. The viewpoint over Nagasaki Port and hunting for the heart stones are also popular, so we recommend leaving yourself plenty of time.

攝影 (1)

Photography is generally permitted throughout the garden. There are many photogenic scenes, including the buildings that form part of the World Heritage site and the viewpoint over Nagasaki Port. Some exhibits may have restrictions, so please follow the signs on site.

看點 (2)

What is the connection with the World Heritage listing?

The former Glover House in the garden is one of the component parts of the Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution, inscribed as World Heritage in 2015. It is known as the oldest surviving Western-style wooden house in Japan, home to the Scottish merchant Thomas B. Glover.

What flowers can I see in the garden?

In spring, from March to April, banksia roses and spring starflowers bloom, and orchids (cymbidium) can be seen in the greenhouse of the former Glover House. Flowers of each season are planted throughout the garden, so the scene differs with every visit.
