From Shin-Sapporo Station (subway) or Shin-Sapporo Station (JR) bus terminal, take the JR Hokkaido Bus bound for "Kaitaku-no-mura" (about 15 minutes, roughly once every 30 minutes). From JR Shinrin Koen Station, it takes about 10 minutes. Free parking is available (74 spaces).

Yes. There are two types: a pass for Hokkaido Museum alone, and a combined annual pass with Hokkaido Kaitaku Village. If you plan to visit 2–3 times a year, a pass is good value. See the official website for details.

Yes. A combined ticket for Hokkaido Museum and Hokkaido Kaitaku Village is available. You can also purchase in advance through Asoview! or Webket. The two facilities are about 10–15 minutes apart by bus.

Yes. In "Discovery Plaza", children can touch real specimens using 40 different kits and it's very popular with them. It is enjoyable for children from ages 2–3 and widely used by families.

About 1.5–2 hours to view the permanent exhibitions. If you also want to see the special exhibitions, allow about 3 hours. There is a rest area on the 2nd floor where you can relax while enjoying views of Nopporo Forest Park. Food and drink are allowed.

The lobby features towering restored skeletons of a mammoth and Naumann elephant with impressive scale. The exhibition rooms cover five themes: Ainu traditional clothing and dugout canoes, the lives of settlers, Hokkaido's natural environment, all under the theme "Hokkaido in Northeast Asia". Children can touch real specimens in the "Discovery Plaza".

Yes. There is a café and museum shop on the 1st floor. The café serves light meals and drinks, and the shop sells original goods and books related to Hokkaido and the museum.
