How do I get there?
From the west exit of JR Akita Station, platform 7, take the Akita Chuo Bus "Arakaya Line / Moriyama Zoo" for approximately 30–35 minutes to the terminal stop "Moriyama Zoo". By car, it takes about 25 minutes from Akita Chuo IC, and free parking (approximately 500 spaces) is available.

Can I feed the animals?
Paid animal feeding experiences (100 yen per cup) are available daily. You can feed the animals directly, and it's very popular with both children and adults.
What is the "Mamma Time" event?
A popular scheduled program where you can watch animals being fed up close with commentary from the keepers. You'll learn about animal behaviour and characteristics in an enjoyable way. It runs daily, but times vary depending on the animal.

What are the opening periods and hours?
Regular season runs from the third Saturday in March to 30 November, 9:00–16:30 (last entry 16:00), closed no days during this period. Winter season (January–February) operates only on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays as "Snow Zoo", 10:00–15:00 (last entry 14:30). Closed in December, the first three days of January, weekdays in January–February, and early March.

What animals can I see?
We exhibit a wide variety of animals including African elephants, giraffes, lions, Amur tigers, snow leopards, Arctic wolves, gibbons, and Blakiston's fish owls. In total we keep over 90 species.

Do you offer an annual pass?
Annual passes are available for 1,250 yen (adults). Discount tickets are also available (5 tickets for 3,150 yen, 20 tickets for 10,600 yen).
What is the admission fee?
Adults 730 yen, high school students and below free. Groups (20 or more adults) 530 yen. A 100 yen discount coupon may be distributed to those staying at accommodations in the city or using public buses (ask the bus driver).

Tell me about the amusement park "Anipa".
An amusement park called "Moriyama Yuuenchi Anipa" is located within the zoo. Entry is free (separate zoo admission required). Hours are 10:00–16:30, and each attraction is charged separately.

Is there an observation deck?
There is an observation deck in the "King's Forest" area of the park, from which you can view Akita city from Morimori Mountain. The night view is especially beautiful—we recommend visiting during evening zoo hours.

There is an indoor facility called the "Visitor Center (Zoo Area)" where you can rest and view exhibits even in rain. Some animal enclosures also allow indoor observation.
