How do I get there from the nearest station?
About 14 minutes' walk from Tonosawa Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway, or about 15 minutes' walk or 5 minutes by car from Hakone-Yumoto Station.

What are the rooms like?
There are 17 rooms, every one different in layout and fittings, with no two the same. There are river-side Japanese rooms and rooms of several connecting spaces, all with the character of traditional sukiya architecture.

The inn has long been favoured by writers and artists including Fukuzawa Yukichi, Natsume Soseki, Shimazaki Toson, Kawai Gyokudo, Osaragi Jiro and Bando Tsumasaburo, each of whom would ask for their own favourite room.
Is the building a listed cultural property?
Yes. The three-storey wooden building of several wings, in the Kyoto sukiya style, was registered in its entirety as a national Tangible Cultural Property in 2002. It is highly regarded as architecture that expresses the beauty of bamboo to the full.

Can I bathe without staying overnight?
Day bathing is currently suspended. The hot spring is for overnight guests only.
What kind of hot spring water is it?
It is a colourless, clear alkaline simple spring. Our well-known Daimaru bath overflows with hot spring water tempered by spring water, gentle on the skin.
