How do I get there from Sendai Station, and is there a transfer?
About 30 minutes by car from Sendai Station. A free shuttle bus runs from the East Exit of Sendai Station (booking required), and on the way back you can also take the shuttle bus departing from Hotel New Mitoya to return to Sendai Station.

Tell me about sightseeing in the Akiu Onsen area.
The inn is in Akiu Onsen, Sendai's back parlour, and nearby attractions include Akiu Great Falls and Tenshukaku Natural Park. Being about 30 minutes by car from central Sendai, it is also ideal as a base for sightseeing in the city.

There are 26 rooms in total: Japanese-style rooms in the main building (ground and first floors) and detached rooms. All rooms look out over the garden, in calm Japanese spaces built in the sukiya style.

There is a shop on the premises. Original products include Hitoumebore, a treat made fresh each day by our pastry chef, and our own incense, Soen-ko.

What are the qualities and benefits of the hot spring?
It is a sodium and calcium chloride spring. It is said to help with neuralgia, muscle ache, joint pain, frozen shoulder, recovery from fatigue, chronic skin conditions and chronic gynaecological conditions. An open-air bath and a sauna are also provided.

We serve kaiseki cuisine making the most of produce from the Sanriku coast and the mountains. A tea lounge and a lounge are also provided, where you can relax before and after your meal.
