Tell me about the history of the ryokan.
The name "Yanagi no Yu" was given by Tsugaru Nobushige, the second lord of the Hirosaki Domain. This historic inn served as the eastern main garrison of the Tsugaru clan, and retains the wooden bath (Oyudono) and garden that have been in use since the Edo period.

How many hot springs are there? What is the water quality?
We have 4 private hot springs with different therapeutic properties, all enjoyed as 100% free-flowing baths. The water is from the renowned Ashinomaki hot spring, warming you from the core while being gentle on the skin.
What kind of bath is "Oyudono"?
It is a main bath built entirely from Hinoki (Japanese cypress) over 250 years ago, with a historic bathtub used since the Edo period. It features an indoor bath and an outdoor cypress barrel bath, offering relaxation through the scent of hinoki and hot spring benefits. This esteemed bath was favored by the Tsugaru clan lords.
How many baths are there and what types?
There are two bath areas: "Oyudono" (indoor bath and outdoor cypress barrel bath) and "Tsubo no Yu" (indoor bath, garden open-air cypress bath, and sauna), giving a total of five baths. Both are available through gender rotation.
What are the bath rotation times?
"Oyudono" is for women 13:00–19:30 and men 19:30–next 9:00. "Tsubo no Yu" is for men 13:00–19:30 and women 19:30–next 9:00.

What kind of meals do you serve?
We offer creative cuisine prepared by our head chef, centered on fresh seafood caught in Mutsu Bay. Depending on the season, you can also enjoy seasonal ingredients such as abalone, toge-kurigani (spiky hair crab), and whitefish.
