The inn stands in the rich natural setting of Okushimoda in Izu, where in summer you can watch fireflies and forest green tree frogs. Surrounded by ponds and greenery on the grounds, you can take in nature through the seasons.

Yes, the water can be drunk. At pH 9.5 it is strongly alkaline and extremely soft, gentle on the body, and known as a source that eases tiredness. Being drinkable is one of the great features of Kannon Onsen.

At pH 9.5 and a hardness of 1 mg or less, it is a strongly alkaline, extremely soft water found almost nowhere else in Japan. It is an alkaline simple spring. The silky feel on the skin has earned it the name beautifying bath. It can also be drunk, and the source water is used in the cooking.

There is the large bathing hall Galatea, the day-use bathing facility Kannon Principle, and rooms with their own open-air bath. All use water from our own source, 100 per cent and flowing continuously.

Is there a pick-up service?
Pick-up from Izukyu-Shimoda Station requires advance booking. If you come by local bus, we will collect you by car at the Yokokawa bus stop, so please tell us in advance which bus you will take from Shimoda Station.

We serve kaiseki courses full of produce from the mountains and the sea. We take care to use the Kannon Onsen source water in the cooking as well, and the dishes make the most of fresh local ingredients.
