How do I get there from the nearest interchange?
Conveniently, about 7 minutes from Shokawa IC on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway. About 90 minutes by car from Nagoya; from the Osaka direction via the Meishin and Tokai-Hokuriku expressways, and from the Tokyo direction via the Chuo Expressway, the Abo Tunnel and the Chubu-Jukan Expressway.
How do I get there by train?
The nearest station is Takayama on the JR Takayama Main Line, but there is no bus from the station. We recommend a hire car from Takayama Station (about 45-50 minutes). Pick-ups may not be available on some dates, so please contact the hotel in advance.

What activities are there?
There are three trekking routes within grounds about six times the area of the Tokyo Dome. In summer there is river play, fishing and stargazing; in winter skiing (the nearest slopes are 20 minutes away), snow play and snow sculpture, with activities through the seasons.
Can I use it in the ski season?
Yes. Popular ski areas are about 20 minutes away at the nearest, and the hotel has good access to five ski areas, making it popular as a ski base. Studless tyres or chains are essential in winter.

Check-in is from 15:00 (last reception 19:00) and check-out is by 10:00. Some plans allow late check-in, up to 22:00.

How easy is it to reach the sights?
About 45 minutes by car to the World Heritage village of Shirakawa-go, about 50 minutes to the old streets of Hida Takayama and about 1 hour 30 minutes to Kanazawa. The Shokawa cherry tree, over 500 years old and a designated natural monument of Gifu Prefecture, is also nearby.

There is a range to suit different styles of travel, including design rooms and Japanese-Western rooms. With around 29 to 39 rooms it is a small hotel where you can stay at leisure.

What is distinctive about the hot spring?
Ryujin-no-Yu uses our own source from 1,300 m underground at 100 per cent, with no added water, no recirculation and no disinfectant. It is an alkaline spring at pH 8.7-9.1, rich in sulphate ions and known as a beauty bath, yielding an abundant 263 tonnes a day. The water is gentle enough for babies.

What is the food like?
We serve proper kaiseki cuisine built on local ingredients, with A5-grade Hida beef as the centrepiece. Breakfast also includes Hida's local dishes. Note that there are no restaurants or convenience stores near the hotel, so on a room-only stay please eat before you arrive.
