What is the history of this hot spring inn?
Known as "Yoshino's hidden hot spring," it has been beloved by many literary figures and mountain ascetic practitioners since the Meiji era. It is also known for Shimazaki Tōson's stay in spring of 1893 (Meiji 26) at age 22, and the room where he stayed remains as it was then.
What is your connection to Shimazaki Tōson?
Shimazaki Tōson stayed at our inn in spring of 1893 (Meiji 26) when he was 22 years old. Having left on a trip to the Kansai region while troubled by his feelings for a former student, Tōson found solace viewing the blooming cherry blossoms in the gardens of Yoshino Mountain. The room where he stayed is still preserved today.
