It is about 15 minutes by car from Huis Ten Bosch. From Huis Ten Bosch Station on the JR Sasebo Line you can get there by train and bus. Many visitors come as part of sightseeing in the Sasebo area alongside a trip to Nagasaki.

Take a Saihi bus bound for Pearl Sea Resort / Kujukushima Aquarium from in front of JR Sasebo Station and get off at the terminus (about 25 minutes); the resort is right there. By car it is about 7 minutes along the national road from Sasebo-chuo IC on the Nishi-Kyushu Expressway.

As well as sightseeing boats (the Pearl Queen and smaller vessels), a variety of marine activities such as sea kayaking and yacht experiences are offered. You can enjoy the scenery created by the 208 islands of Kujukushima in a number of ways.

The resort itself is open all year round. The Umikirara aquarium is open 9:00-18:00 from March to October and 9:00-17:00 from November to February (last admission 30 minutes before closing). Please check the calendar on the official website for sightseeing boat departure times.

There is plenty for children, including the Umikirara aquarium, the dolphin pool and hands-on experiences. The resort also has shops and restaurants, so families can spend a whole day there.

Individual rates for the Kujukushima sightseeing boat Pearl Queen are 2,200 yen for adults (high school age and above) and 1,100 yen for children (aged 4 to junior high school); children aged 3 and under are free. Several other cruises are also available.

Entry to Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort itself is free. However, admission to the Kujukushima Aquarium Umikirara and use of the sightseeing boats and marine activities are charged separately.

Individual rates are 1,470 yen for adults (high school age and above) and 730 yen for children (aged 4 to junior high school); children aged 3 and under are free. Groups of 15 or more are discounted to 1,250 yen for adults and 630 yen for children.

Popular attractions include the outdoor Kujukushima Bay Grand Tank flooded with natural light, the Kujukushima Dolphin Pool where you can interact with dolphins, and the Jellyfish Symphony Dome where jellyfish float magically. The shoals of sardines are also impressive.

The Umikirara aquarium has extensive indoor facilities, so it can be enjoyed in the rain. The Jellyfish Symphony Dome and the tank displays are unaffected by the weather. Outdoor activities and sightseeing boats may be cancelled depending on conditions.
