It is a simple hydrogen sulphide (sulphur) spring with a source temperature of about 70 degrees Celsius, turning from clear to milky white on contact with the air. It yields about 240 litres a minute and flows continuously from the source. It is said to help with neuralgia, rheumatism, skin conditions and diabetes. Water is added to adjust the temperature. There are no showers or taps, but fresh water is available.
What kinds of baths are there?
There are separate large communal baths for men and women (renovated in June 2024), a mixed open-air bath and a women-only open-air bath. The bath keeper enters the water twice a day, morning and evening, to check the condition of the bath.
