How do I access the inn from central Kochi?
About 10 minutes by taxi from JR Kochi Station, or by Tosaden Kōtsū bus: transfer at Harimaya-bashi Station and get off at Kenchomae Station, then a 3-minute walk (bus fare approximately ¥200). By car: from Kochi IC, take National Route 32, then turn left at the Kenchomae intersection.

Tell me about the history and origins of the inn.
Founded in 1949. This historic ryokan stands on the site of a former villa belonging to the Yamanouchi family, daimyo of Tosa Domain and one of the Four Enlightened Lords of the late Edo period. A beautiful Japanese garden remains on the grounds, allowing guests to leisurely experience Kochi's historical atmosphere within the inn.

Can I use the day-use bathing service?
Yes, day-use bathing is available. Rates are: adults ¥1,200, ages 65+ ¥700, elementary school children ¥600, and preschoolers ¥400. Please bring your own towel, though we also offer towel rental and sales.
What are the natural hot spring facilities like?
We have a full-scale onsen facility called "Yudono Mizuyagakukan" equipped with an outdoor bath and sauna. The water is sodium chloride with excellent heat-retention properties—it is a precious spring found only in Shinsui-en within central Kochi. You can enjoy it in an ideal setting overlooking the clear Kagami River and the beautiful Mount Hiitoyama.

We serve kaiseki (multi-course Japanese dinner) featuring Kochi specialities including Sarashi ryori (colourful sashimi-and-vegetable platters), bonito caught using the traditional Tosa single-line fishing method, and Tosa sarashi ryori kaiseki with grilled beef in miso paste. Our menus highlight seasonal local ingredients, and our head chef—who has won consecutive awards in the "Top 100 Ryokan Cuisine" nationwide competition—brings his expertise to every dish.
