Gora Kadan has its origins in 1948. It was named when Prince Noriomiya Nariakira of the Anenomiya branch opened his villa as a venue for receiving dignitaries. The name combines "Kadan" (flower garden), a word used for the place where the former imperial branch received state guests and dignitaries, with "Gora."
