What is the history of Sakakibara Onsen?
It is a historic hot spring praised by Sei Shonagon in The Pillow Book in the Heian period as the hot spring of Nanakuri. Once also called Miya no Yu, it is said to have been used for ritual purification before visiting Ise Jingu, and it is known as one of the three great beautifying waters of Japan.

What are the qualities of the hot spring?
We use the alkaline simple spring of Sakakibara Onsen, a beautifying bath. Colourless and clear, it draws out the skin's own qualities and leaves it firm and bright, and is one of the finest beautifying waters in Japan. It was ranked in the skin category for the Kansai region in the 2024 national hot spring awards.

From Sakakibara Onsen, Ise Jingu is about 60 minutes by car and Suzuka Circuit about 30 minutes. The Aoyama highlands are also close, with nature to enjoy through the seasons.
