Yes, there is a free shuttle bus to and from Niigata Station (advance reservation required, up to 2 days before). Pickup: departs Niigata Station 13:30 → stops at Hyoko Lake → arrives at Chouseikan 14:40. Return: departs Chouseikan 11:00 → arrives at Niigata Station 11:45.

Tell me about the history of this inn.
We are a long-established inn founded in 1868. The inn was loved by many literary figures and dignitaries including Soma Gyofū, Noguchi Ujo, and Konoe Fumimaro. Their writings, letters, and other treasures are carefully preserved here. Additionally, the Gotō Hot Spring area was designated as a "National Health Resort Hot Spring" by the Ministry of the Environment in 2016.

What is radium hot spring?
Murasugi Onsen is a simple radioactive hot spring (alkaline, hypotonic, low-temperature), with a water temperature of 25.2°C. It is a rare radium hot spring, uncommon throughout Japan, and is beneficial for gout, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It is also called the "spring of childbearing" due to its effects on women's health.

What types of baths do you have, including outdoor baths?
We have one of the largest garden open-air baths in the prefecture (approximately 1,000 tsubo), plus three private open-air baths with different atmospheres. The bathhouse connects to the large garden open-air bath through a tunnel.

What are the highlights of the garden?
In the 4,000-tsubo garden, you can enjoy the natural beauty of each season: weeping cherry, double cherry, and azaleas in spring; daylilies and crape myrtle in summer; autumn leaves in fall; and snow-covered landscape in winter. All guest rooms have views of the garden.

What kind of food is served?
Japanese kaiseki (multi-course dinner) made entirely by hand, using seasonal and local ingredients. You can enjoy flavours unique to Niigata, including grilled black throat perch. Our head chef trained at the Niigata kaiseki restaurant "Nabechaya."
