How do I get there?
About 8 minutes' walk from Yunoyama-Onsen Station on the Kintetsu line. By car, about 15 minutes west on National Route 477 from Yokkaichi IC on the Higashi-Meihan Expressway, or about 5 minutes from Komono IC on the Shin-Meishin Expressway.

What are the check-in and check-out times?
Standard check-in is 15:00 and check-out is 11:00. Times may differ by plan and by building, such as the detached villas.

What types of accommodation are there?
As well as the main accommodation building, the organic detached villas, each with its own open-air bath, are popular. There are 12 cottage-style villas, each with its own character, combining architecture and art.

Can I use the baths without staying overnight?
Day-use bathing is available, open 6:00-24:00 all year round. It costs 600 yen for adults on weekdays and 800 yen at weekends and on public holidays; for children (age 3 to elementary school) it is 300 yen on weekdays and 400 yen at weekends and on public holidays.
Is there a private bath?
There is no private bath in the main bathing hall, but each of the detached villas has its own open-air bath. If you would like a private hot spring, please book one of the villas.
What kind of hot spring is Kataoka Onsen?
It is an alkaline simple spring, and unusually for Japan it is 100 per cent free-flowing from the source, with no added water, no reheating, no recirculation and no additives. The water is soft with a pleasant slipperiness, and the open-air bath is surrounded by bamboo groves.

What restaurants and food facilities are there?
There is a wide range, including Hironobu Tsujiguchi's patisserie Confiture H, the stone-oven bakery Mariage de Farine, Masayuki Okuda's Italian restaurant, Masahiro Kasahara's Japanese restaurant Kasa-an Sanpi Ryoron, and the counter-style Japanese restaurant Roan Onmi.

Is there anything to do besides the hot spring?
There is plenty built around food and nature: dining at the restaurants of well-known chefs, buying sweets and bread at the patisserie and bakery, and farming activities at the strawberry greenhouses and kitchen garden.
Can I pick strawberries?
