How do I get there from the nearest station, and is there a transfer?
About 6-7 minutes by taxi from JR Beppu Station, or about 15 minutes by car from Beppu IC. We offer a free transfer to JR Beppu Station or Beppu Kitahama Bus Centre. Pick-up is available 14:00-17:00 and drop-off 9:00-10:00. Please contact the inn in advance.

What is the cancellation policy?
Some plans, such as those on Ikyu.com, allow free cancellation up to 6 days before check-in. This differs by plan, so please check the cancellation policy for each plan when booking.

What room types are there?
All 11 rooms are detached cottages. There are Japanese-style and Japanese-Western rooms, each with its own character: some look out on the pond and garden, others over Beppu Bay in the distance. Every room has an indoor cypress bath or a stone-built open-air bath.

The bathing tax varies with the room rate. It is payable on site, so please ask staff at check-in for details.

When was the inn founded, and what is its history?
It is a historic inn founded in 1926. The present site sits on a former gold mine and the former villa of the Shirakawa family, with 6,000 tsubo (about 20,000 square metres) of grounds containing a Japanese garden, a hanging garden and the Otobaru River flowing through the property, in a harmony of nature and Japanese beauty.

What are the qualities of the hot spring? Is it fed directly from the source?
You can enjoy Kin no Yu, welling up from the site of a former gold mine, fed directly from the source. As well as separate open-air baths for men and women, every room has an open-air bath or an indoor cypress bath, so you can enjoy the hot spring whenever you like.
Is there a private open-air bath?
As well as separate open-air baths for men and women fed directly from the source, there is a private open-air bath. You can bathe amid trees as if forest bathing. Please ask staff at check-in for details.

What is the food like, and is it served in the room?
Both dinner and breakfast are served in your room. Dinner is a full kaiseki course using seasonal ingredients sourced from across Japan. Breakfast is Japanese, centred on our own dried fish.

Parking is free, with 9 spaces. When busy we may ask you to leave your key with us. If using a car navigation system, setting the neighbouring Rakutenchi Shimo Station as your destination makes arrival easier.
