How do I get here from the nearest station?
About 15 minutes by car from JR Mine Line Nagato-Yumoto Station, or take the Sanden Kōtsū bus (bound for Shimonoseki Station) for about 30 minutes and get off at Tawarayama Onsen bus stop, then a 1-minute walk.

This is a traditional therapeutic bathing ryokan that has been enjoyed since ancient times. For long-term stays, please contact the ryokan directly.

A ryokan where you can fully enjoy the charm of traditional Japanese architecture, with pillars and ceilings that have taken on a caramel hue over time, bright verandas, and shoji windows with dappled sunlight.

How do I use the public bathhouses?
You can use multiple public bathhouses in the hot spring town such as "Machi no Yu" and "Hakuen no Yu". The traditional style of Tawarayama Onsen is to head to the public baths in your yukata from your inn. You can also use a bath pass that allows unlimited visits until 15:00 the next day.
What is the spring quality and what conditions can it help with?
An alkaline simple spring with a pH value of approximately 9.8, this high-alkaline hot spring was even selected as the top-ranked onsen in western Japan. It is effective for rheumatism, neuralgia, skin conditions, and has beautifying properties for the skin.
Do the guest rooms have private baths?
At Tawarayama Onsen, to preserve the high-quality hot spring water which has limited flow, the standard practice is for inns not to have private baths in rooms. Our inn has two family baths (one large, one small), so you can enjoy the quality hot spring water exclusively.
