The operating hours and fares of the Mitake Tozan Railway (cable car) change with the season. Please check the latest service information on the Mitake Tozan Railway's official website or locally. Note that using the cable car is essential for staying at the inn.

As you cannot come directly by car, luggage must be carried by cable car and by yourself. We recommend keeping heavy luggage as compact as possible. If you consult the inn in advance, we may be able to offer advice.

Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 10:00. You can spend your time at leisure in the unhurried pace of a mountaintop inn.

A shukubo is lodging for people visiting a shrine or temple. Mitakesanso stands at the gate of Musashi Mitake Shrine and is a historic shukubo inn dating back to the Edo period. It also operates as an ordinary inn open to all, serving dishes that make the most of seasonal ingredients with warm hospitality.

There is a large cypress barrel bath with jets. It is a facility where you can thoroughly ease everyday fatigue. Bathing in the clear mountaintop air is a special experience.

Standing at the summit of Mount Mitake at an elevation of 830 m, the inn looks out over a magical night view of the Kanto plain. It is a superb spot from which you can see not only the Tama area but the skyscrapers of Shinjuku and even Tokyo Skytree.

Each season has its appeal: fresh greenery and cherry blossom in spring, colonies of rengeshoma in summer, autumn leaves in autumn (those of the Mitake Gorge are especially famous), and clear air and night views in winter. Summer is cooler than central Tokyo, making it popular as a retreat from the heat.

You can visit Musashi Mitake Shrine, hike on Mount Mitake (Rock Garden, Nagaodaira and more), and from mid to late August see one of the Kanto region's finest colonies of Japanese anemone (rengeshoma). There are also plenty of outdoor experiences such as rock climbing and kayaking in the Mitake Gorge.

Being at the summit, it is ideal as a base for hiking around Mount Mitake. There is a variety of routes, including the Rock Garden, the traverse to Mount Hinode and the route towards Mount Otake. It also caters widely for climbing, forest bathing, training sessions and group retreats.

It is a quiet inn at the 830 m summit, with mainly calm Japanese-style rooms surrounded by nature. Please check the official website or call for details of the number and types of rooms.

We serve hospitality dishes that incorporate seasonal ingredients and bring out their natural flavour. A meal enjoyed in the fresh mountaintop air is something special.

You cannot come directly to the inn by car. Please travel from Mitake Station on the JR Ome Line by bus and cable car: bus from Mitake Station to Cable Shita (about 6 minutes), cable car to Mitakesan Station (about 6 minutes), then about 15 minutes' walk.
