How do I get there using the Gono Line and the Resort Shirakami?
Take the JR Ou Main Line from Aomori Station for about 35 minutes to Kawabe Station, change to the Resort Shirakami, and after about 2 hours 40 minutes arrive at Wespa Tsubakiyama Station on the JR Gono Line. From there it is about 5 minutes by free shuttle bus.
Is there a shuttle bus?
A free shuttle bus runs from Wespa Tsubakiyama Station on the JR Gono Line, timed to the arrival of the Resort Shirakami train. For ordinary trains, booking is required. In winter there is also a free shuttle bus from JR Shin-Aomori Station for hotel guests only (booking essential).

Day-use bathing is available. The main building is open 9:00-19:00 (last entry 18:30), the new building 10:30-14:00 (last entry 13:30), and the seaside open-air bath 9:00-16:00 (last entry 15:30). Charges are 1,000 yen for adults and 500 yen for children. Hours may be extended in the busy season. Open all year round (subject to change in winter).

What is the seaside open-air bath like?
It is a gourd-shaped open-air bath set right into the shoreline, only about a metre from the water's edge, with a wonderfully open outlook. Being able to bathe while watching the sun set into the Sea of Japan makes it popular with hot spring enthusiasts from across the country.
What are the qualities and characteristics of the hot spring?
It is a chloride spring. Because it warms you thoroughly and keeps you warm afterwards it is called the heat spring; it is also called the wound spring for its strong antibacterial effect, and the beauty spring for its abundant metasilicic acid and bicarbonate ions. The water has a distinctive reddish-brown colour.

What food is served?
The focus is fresh seafood landed on the shore in front, such as tuna, abalone and turban shells, bought directly from a local net-fishery owner who is the brother of the inn's president. You can enjoy course meals making lavish use of produce from the sea and the mountains.
